The Enterprise Web Tech Services team manages a Google Search Appliance which is available to all units throughout the university. The GSA can be used to crawl IU web space and create custom search results by web managers. The team also provides documentation on how to use the features of the GSA. The team also provides documentation on how to create custom search boxes using search results from the any search engine. The team also provides http://search.iu.edu/ which allows users to select their prefered search engine.

Web professionals should visit the IU Search Community of Interest in the IU Knowledge Commons. This is where IU web professionals can share information about search.

GSA managers can visit the Search Confluence space for support information. To find out how to become a GSA manager contact searchiu@indiana.edu. GSA managers can create custom collections (limit what will be returned in search results), front ends (customize displays of search results), and reports (query terms used that have returned and not returned results).
