ANTHROPOLOGY JOURNALS

Sociocultural anthropology is published in many periodicals in many languages. Here we discuss a variety of journals, most published in the USA. We give basic information on circulation, indexing, editorial policies, and rejection rates.

The essays also discuss the intellectual content and themes of the journals, the geographical areas they cover, and the patterns of citation within the journal.

The goal is to get some idea of their editorial policies, and of how journals may play a role in shaping theory, and in the social processes of academic life. Do journals reflect geographical divisions, theoretical schools, or sub-disciplines?
