Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) at IU Bloomington |
| Connecting to the IU network to access the file server and your Outlook e-mail away from the office is made possible by connecting through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). |
| -Note: You will need to log in to this connection every time your computer restarts. |

Right-click on the “My Network Places” shortcut on your Desktop and select “Properties.” |

Click “Create a New Connection” on the left side of the “Network Connections” menu. |

Click “Next” on the first page of the “New Connection Wizard.” |

Select the second radio button to “Connect to the Network at my Workplace” and click “Next.” |

Select the “Virtual Private Network Connection” radio button and click “Next.” |

| 6. |
Type “Indiana University VPN” into the text box for the “Company Name” and click “Next.” |

Type “ipsec.indiana.edu” without the quotes into the text box and click “Next.” |
|

Select the “Anyone’s Use” radio button and click “Next.” |
|

| 9. |
Check the “Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop” radio button and click “Finish.” |

Double-click the new VPN shortcut on your desktop. Type in your IU username and password, and you will now be able to connect to all of the IU network services such as our server. |
