Viewing Shakespeare (Webmail) or Jewel E-mail in Outlook 2003

1. From the Tools menu, select E-mail Accounts...
2. Select Add new e-mail account and click Next.
3. Choose IMAP and click Next.
4. Next to "Your Name:", enter the name you want to appear in the "From:" headers of e-mail messages you send.
5. Next to "E-mail address:", enter your IU e-mail address.
-Note: If you are unsure of your exact IU e-mail address, see the Knowledge Base document "At IU, what is my e-mail address?"
6. Next to "User Name:", enter your e-mail username.
7. Next to "Password:", type your password. If you are the only person who has access to your computer, you may want Outlook to save your password. If this is the case, check Remember password. If you do not want Outlook to save your password, make sure Remember password is unchecked. You will then be prompted for your password each time you send and receive messages.
8. Next to "Incoming Mail server (IMAP):", enter the name of your IMAP server:
  • If your account is on Iago, enter imap1.indiana.edu .
  • If your account is on Kate, enter imap2.indiana.edu .
  • If your account is on Lear, enter imap3.indiana.edu .
  • If your account is on Ariel, enter imap4.indiana.edu .
  • If your account is on Pearl, enter imap0.iupui.edu .
  • If your account is on Jade, enter imap1.iupui.edu .
-Note: If you're not sure which computer your account is on, see the Knowledge Base document "On the Shakespeare or Jewel systems, how do I know which mail server I use?"
-Note: Some older mail client configurations may have simply imap.indiana.edu as the IMAP server for Iago. If your account is on Iago, verify that your setting is imap1.indiana.edu, or change it accordingly. Otherwise, when you use SSL, you will see an SSL certificate error.
9. At any Indiana University campus except IPFW (which uses the POP protocol and its own SMTP servers), in the "Outgoing" or "SMTP" server field, type "mail-relay.iu.edu" without the quotes.
10. In the E-mail Accounts window, click More Settings...
11. Click the Advanced tab, and under "Incoming server (IMAP):" and "Outgoing server (SMTP):", check This server requires a secure connection (SSL). Be sure to check the box for each server.
-Note: There is a known conflict with SSL and Symantec AntiVirus 9 (SAV 9). If you are running SAV 9, for more information, see the Knowledge Base document "When trying to send e-mail, why am I getting an SSL error?"
12. Click the Outgoing Server tab, and check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, then select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
-Note: Do not check Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA); this will prevent you from sending mail.
13. Click OK, then Next, and then Finish.
