Lead Systems Analyst/Programmer - PA3IT

Description and Responsibilities:

Develops specifications and systems to solve complex problems for University Information Technology Serviced (UITS) research technology, particularly Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Works at the highest technical levels on all phases of software and service development, including requirements definition, conceptual analysis, data modeling, design, coding, testing, documenting, conversion, evaluation, and maintenance. Acts as a project leader in a large project and/or several small projects with responsibilities to direct, instruct, and verify the quality of work of other systems staff. Project leadership includes feasibility studies, planning, cost analysis, resource estimation, project tracking, and evaluation. Participates in the design, build, and support of GIS software and systems for use by faculty and administrative departments. Applications supported include ESRI, ERDAS, IDRISI. Participates in requirements gathering, understands system design decisions, and creates programming modules and enhancements. Performs day-to-day GIS support decisions and shows personal initiative. Evaluates new technologies for their possible use in future adoption and support.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in geography or related field and three years of related experience in Geographical Information Systems support, license administration, or applications development required. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Demonstrated expertise and operational knowledge of GIS (preferably through ArcGIS) required. Strong service orientation, including a commitment to work directly with end users, and a demonstrated ability to provide effective consulting to all levels of faculty, students, and administrators required. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a wide variety of users in a teaching and leadership role required. Demonstrated excellence in analytical problem solving, project management, and project organization required. Experience with industry standard ESRI GIS products, ESRI ArcSDE, Personal Geodatabase, and ESRI ArcGIS Server preferred.
