reporting/management |
Problem reporting and management is the process of identifying
and resolving data network problems that are coordinated through
the central IUB NOC area. The IUB NOC responds to, and manages all
data network problems on the IU Bloomington campus in the most efficient
and timely manner possible by providing contact points such as our
web page for network problems, email and phone access. Highly skilled,
trained, professionals review and respond as appropriate to each
problem.

| Notification |
Notification is the process ensuring proper
communication to affected customers, technical support personnel,
and related administrative staff during network problems or outages.
The IUB network services group maintains phone contact with departments
and email lists to appropriate technical staff throughout the problem
resolution period. |
| Change
Management |
Change Management is the process where the IUB network
services will submit network changes/upgrades each week or as necessary,
for the IU Bloomington campus. These duties include change approval,
scheduling, and notifications to appropriate departmental staff. |
| Weekly
Availability Reports |
Campus-wide and special service outages and updates affecting processes
on the IU Bloomington campus are listed on a web page maintained
by the UITS Support Center: http://ithelp.indiana.edu/notice.cgi
Isolated network problem reports are maintained by the IUB NOC
and may be viewed by network personnel and administrators. These
reports consist of open and/or closed problems for any period of
time requested.

Various network traffic
maps and statistics
are provided by the IUB NOC and are available for viewing.

| Network Project Management |
Network project management covers all reporting and
tracking of data jack related issues, network builds and modifications,
network inventory management, and billing for network services. |

maintain the highest standard of reliability and availability possible
to the IUPUI campus network.

Notification is the process ensuring proper
communication to affected customers during network problems or outages
(scheduled or unscheduled). The NOC utilizes several methods of information
dissemination. Primarily, notification will consist of email sent
to appropriate IUPUI and IU listservs. |

coordinates network installations, maintenance, and enhancements for
the IUPUI campus, and the Indiana University state network. These
duties include change approval, scheduling, and notification. |
