Executive Summary
"Collaborative Media Nexus", or Nexus for short, is a CAVE virtual environment that will be developed as a stage for showcasing the arts. This virtual stage will combine elements of video, three dimensional computer graphics and sound design. The video and graphics will be activated by sounds garnered from composed sound files, real-time voice and midi devices. Participants work collaboratively from other CAVE or CAVE-like devices and remote high speed computer networks. The technology will derive from the video and audio feeds of cameras and tools developed for real-time conferencing (VIC) and audio (VAT) sessions over the MBone. Additionally, video and audio will be processed to control certain aspects of the environment.
