TOPIC:
New Year's Resolution time; setting basic nutrition/health goals for 2010; staying on track to meet goals; motivation to increase activity

Samantha Schaefer, M.S., R.D., C.D. is a Registered and Certified Dietitian at Bloomington Hospital, Community Health Education. She provides individual medical nutrition therapy to patients and educates the community about nutrition and healthy, active lifestyles. Samantha is certified in Adult and Pediatric Weight Management. With her love for sports nutrition, Samantha also has consulted with Indiana University Athletics.

Samantha received her B.S. in Human Sciences with an emphasis in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from Mississippi State University in May 2004 where she was also a student-athlete for the MSU women's soccer team. In December 2005, she graduated with her M.S. in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Memphis and completed over 900 hours of supervised practice through her dietetic internship and residency. Her thesis was on the prevalence of eating disorders among a sample of Division I college athletes.

Currently, Samantha plays a key role in the Active Living Coalition of Bloomington, which promotes physical activity and healthy lifestyles in Monroe County. She currently serves as President for the Southeastern Indiana Dietetic Association, served 2 years as the Clinical Practice Chair for the Indiana Dietetic Association, and is an active member of the Eating Disorders Task force of Indiana. Samantha is a member of the American Dietetic Association and Public Health and Community Nutrition Practice Group.

Cost: $13 for members and $15 for guests. If you make a reservation and do not attend and no cancellation was received by January 11th, the University Club will bill you the for the meal.

You may pre-pay by sending a check to the University Club or pay-at-the-door.
