One written recommendation from a work supervisor, professor, or other recommender who can describe the reason you should be considered for this award is required. This recommendation may be attached to this application or may be submitted separately. The recommendation must clearly identify the name of the student recommended and the name, role, and contact information of the person submitting the recommendation. If the recommendation is sent separately, send it to Suzanne Phillips, Indiana Memorial Union, M-088, or by email at philli@indiana.edu. Attn: Scholarship Committee, University Club, Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405. Both student application and supervisor's recommendation must be received by February 28, 2012.

Scholarship recipients will be honored at the University Club Annual Meeting on March 21, 2012

Well, I think that winter has definitely reared its little head. When you walk out-side and feel those arctic breezes, remember the club is a warm and cozy place to spend some time. There are several activities planned for February where you can come in, get out of the cold and enjoy the pleasure of a good meal and the warmth of great friends. Be sure to look through the newsletter for these activities. Also, be sure to check the web page by visiting www.indiana.edu/~uclub. More details and up-to-the-minute information will be listed there thanks to our web master, Lu Cregar.

I would like to thank Janie Harnett and her crew for a great Basketball Pot Luck. As usual, it was well attended. The dinner was excellent and the company superb. I will admit, the game was disappointing, but the evening was still a success. We can't give up on our IU Hoosiers. . . they are improving. Rah, rah, keep up that team spirit and cheer them on to win, win, win.

I also want to thank Ruth DiSilvestro for the fabulous January luncheon. It was very well attended and most informative. Everyone who was able to attend had a great time. I think most people were pleased to find out that they were younger than they had thought.

I do want to mention the next big sporting event that we host at the club - the Super Bowl Party. . . we know the date, February 5th. We know the time, 5pm for dinner, and now we know the players. I am sure that you have heard by now. Wasn't that last game in the play-offs great! It is so nice when the teams are closely matched and playing well. Let's hope that the Super Bowl itself is as exciting. Could we stand the excitement of another overtime game?

Both the UWC and the Luncheon Club have wonderful luncheons planned for your February enjoyment. Be sure to make your reservations for the Super Bowl Party and the luncheons with Barb as soon as you can. I hope to see you at all of these happenings.
