As
a child, Doris Jean Coil wrote poetry, drew pictures, made toys with her
brother and watched her mother make flowers, sang at family get-togethers,
and taught herself how to play guitar, mandolin, and banjo. Growing up
in a musical family helped Doris get started, but her creative instincts
led her toward making art as well as music throughout her life--everything
from dolls and toys to quilts and clothes. Through a strong connection
with God and her numerous artistic endeavors, Doris has been able to make
it through hard times and bring some happiness to others. Putting her own,
sometimes difficult, experiences into her work, she is able to create something
both artistic and therapeutic. |
