Students Profile: Ben Gibson

Ben GibsonBen Gibson is earning undergraduate majors in Telecommunications and Mathematics and a minor in Spanish. In the summer of 2008, he lived for six weeks with a family in Queretaro, Mexico while studying Spanish.  In addition to classes, Ben has been the student coordinator for the Collins Living Learning Center’s Video Production Facilities since his freshman year.  His responsibilities include training students in the use of Final Cut Pro and Cannon GL cameras. Each semester, he also puts on a production-related event at Collins such as a short film festival or a one-day film-making workshop. This year, for his Telecommunications Senior Project, Ben worked with Professor Andrew Bucksbarg and created a musical instrument that used light sensors and flashlights to generate sounds in the software program Pure Data.  Ben plans to spend another year at IU in order to finish his course work for a Hutton Honors College General Honors Notation and to add a minor in computer science.
