Languages of Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Middle East

The 2012 Workshop will offer the following languages:
- First, Second, and Third year Arabic
- First and Second year Dari
- First year Georgian
- First year Kazakh
- First year Mongolian
- First and Second year Pashto
- First year Persian
- First year Tatar
- First year Turkish
- First and second year Uyghur
- First and Second year Uzbek

Courses listed above are offered in the Workshop with the cooperation of the Department of Central Eurasian Studies (CEUS), and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures (NELC), the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center (IAUNRC), the Center for Languages of the Central Asian Region (CeLCAR), the Center for the Study of the Middle East (CSME) and the Islamic Studies Program (ISP). Eight credit hours are granted for language courses to undergraduates and six hours are granted to graduate students. Ten credit hours are granted to undergraduates and graduates for first-year Georgian. Undergraduate students in second and third-year Arabic are granted six credits.
Films, a lecture series, and cooking demonstrations are included as part of this program.

Priority deadline for fellowships is March 1, 2012. Late applications will be considered after the first round of applications has been reviewed and pending availability of funds.
