Housing & Meals
Participants in the Summer Workshop have a choice of living in air-conditioned university dormitory rooms, or making their own arrangements to live in town.
The Workshop strongly recommends living on campus, since this will augment the students' overall experience and increase the opportunity to speak with instructors, visitors in the cafeteria, and other students.
Living on-campus is not required.
On-campus housing will be in single rooms with shared bath in Willkie Hall. Residential Program Services will not permit students who will not be 18 by the start of SWSEEL to live in Willkie. Other on-campus housing may be arranged for students who are 17.
Special SWSEEL rates for Willkie in 2013 are:
|SWSEEL Session||Dates||Per Day||Days||Total Cost|
|9 week||May 27 — July 26||$28.95||60 days||$1,741.55|
|8 week||June 3 — July 26||$28.95||55 days||$1,570.25|
|5 week||May 28 — June 26||$28.95||33 days||$942.15|
|4 week||June 3 — June 26||$28.95||27 days||$770.85|
There is a $50 housing application fee for SWSEEL participants to live in the IU residence halls and a $4.55 summer session activity. The housing application fee is waived for SWSEEL participants that live in the IU residence halls during the academic year.
All on campus housing is in single rooms with a shared private bathroom. No on-campus housing is available for participants planning to bring partners or family members.
The housing application is available online. Students should first create their network ID and passphrase. Once that is established, go to the RPS website and select the Online Services link on the right-hand column of the page.
Once in the Online Services portal, choose the "New Student Housing Contract and Application". Complete the required demographic information, and proceed to the tab labeled 2012-13 academic year. Select the Summer Housing Contract/Application.
During the process of completing the online application students will be asked to identify their SWSEEL term and program. If you have special needs you can address these on the application and should also send an email to email@example.com so that these can be accommodated.
There is no meal plan for SWSEEL. Willkie has common kitchens and students have rented microwave/mini-fridge combinations. Please see the IU Residential Programs and Services web site for more information on meal plans you may wish to purchase.
Students are also encouraged to consider purchasing I-BUCKS for on-campus dining. Wright dining also takes cash, credit cards and campus access accounts if students do not choose a meal plan.
For more information on summer meal hours and options, visit the Residential Programs & Services website.
