If you
own a zero emission vehicle as determined by the California Air Resource Board (CARB) or own a car
that has achieved a minimum green score of 40 on the American Council
for an energy efficient economy (ACEEE) annual vehicle rating guide,
you may receive a 20% discount on your A or C permit. You must bring
in your vehicle registration to the Office
of Parking Operations to
receive your discount and permit. This discount program is being offered
for the 2009-2010 permit year on an experimental basis. Continuation
of the program in future years is still to be determined.
Also, read some
tips from the City of Bloomington’s Environmental Commission on how to make your current vehicle more fuel-efficient.
Note that the best method to decrease environmental impact is to switch
to alternative transportation or purchase a more fuel-efficient or hybrid
vehicle.
The IU Motor Pool also seeks to increase
sustainable practices. IU’s
Sustainable Procurement site recognizes that the Indiana
University Motor Pool recycles
oil, antifreeze, and tires. In addition, the Indiana University Motor
Pool currently utilizes one Toyota Prius in its fleet, which gets on
average 60 MPG.
