SPSS Installation Solutions
The following is a list of solutions to common errors that occur when installing SPSS 17 for Windows.
Check List
- Follow instructions of SPSS Installation Guide.
- Select "Single-user License."; DO NOT select "Network License."
- DO NOT change the system date and time of your computer.
- DO NOT install SPSS on more than one computer.
- For FAQs, visit http://support.spss.com/ and log in with id "guest" and password "guest".
Please run this utility from your products installation folder. (echoid.dat)
- Please run this utility from your products installation folder. (echoid.dat)
- When running the License Authorization Wizard after installing SPSS, you may get a pop-up saying "Please run this utility from your products installation folder. (echoid.dat)." This says "echoid.dat" was not generated by the SPSS installer. You cannot run the License Authorization Wizard to move on.
- You have to download a file from ftp://ftp.spss.com/pub/spss/windows/74746.zip; extract it to get 'echoid.dat'; copy the file into the SPSSInc\SPSS16 directory; and launch the License Authorization Wizard to get your SPSS licensed.
Error 106
- Error Code: 106 You are not allowed to generate any more new licenses.
- If you see this error, contact SPSS (support@spss.com) to attempt to re-license the same machine.
Error 2085
- Error # 2085. The temporary period for running SPSS for Windows without a license has expired. Specific symptom number: 37
- If you see this error, you have an invalid authorization code or chose the "Network license" installation instead of the "Single-user." The "Single-user" is the default installation. The "Network license" is not part of the ELA (Enterprise License Agreement) for Students installation license and should not be used. The License Authorization Wizard may report successful lincensing, but the authorization code given to you will not work for the "Network-license" installation. You will need to contact SPSS (support@spss.com)
- It is also possible that you have an incorrect system date. If that case, reset to the current date and run SPSS again.
Error 7001, symptom 18
- The current license does not permit this job to continue.
- Error # 7001. There is no license for SPSS for Windows. This command not executed. Specific symptom number: 18
- If you see this error upon SPSS launch, please run the SPSS License Authorization Wizard and enter your Authorization code.
- For Windows Vista users, if you still see this error message after you have successfully licensed the SPSS, please run SPSS as administrator, e.g. Start -> All Programs -> SPSS Inc -> PASW Statistics 17 -> right-click PASW Statistics 17 -> Run as administrator.
Error 7002, symptom 26
- Error 7002. There appears to be a license for SPSS for Windows, but it is invalid. Specific Symptom Number: 26.
- If you see this error, follow this instruction.
Error 7003
- Error 7003. The license for SPSS for Windows has expired. This command not executed.
- If you see this error, please check the machine's system clock. This error usually occurs when you set the computer system clock backward.
Sentinel LM: Error[92]
- Sentinel LM: Error[92]: Failed to add license code to the license server on host "no-net". License code is invalid.
- If you see this error, you have an invalid authorization code or chose the "Network license" installation instead of the "Single-user." The "Single-user" is the default installation. The "Network license" is not part of the ELA (Enterprise License Agreement) for Students installation license and should not be used.
- You must uninstall SPSS, remove the SPSS directory completely, and reinstall SPSS.
