SAS Licensing Informaiton
The UITS Stat/Math Center leases SAS 9.13 for the desktop for Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, XP, and NT 4.0. SAS 9.13 no longer supports Windows 95 and 98 with the FAT file system, XP Home edition, and Vista Home editions.
SAS is also available for UNIX, including Tru64 Digital UNIX, AIX, and Solaris as well as LINUX. Lease prices are substantially higher than that for the Windows platform. All versions resemble SAS on the shared central computer systems in performance and reliability. Call the UITS Stat/Math Center for details and for information on network licenses.
License Terms
- All desktop versions of SAS are available for lease from the UITS Stat/Math Center for a period that follows the fiscal year (July 1 through June 30 each year). When your lease expires each June, you will have a 45 day grace period during which the program will continue to function. After the grace period, the software will cease to function. If you renew your lease, UITS will either provide a new password along with instructions on how to apply it or install the latest release of the program.
- You may lease a desktop version of SAS for one computer for approximately one year at a time (see each platform description, below, for more details).
- Desktop versions of SAS are available for academic use only (e.g., research and instruction) on IU- and personally-owned computers.
- UITS must handle installation and annual renewal of all versions on university- or personally-owned computers. UITS retains the program disks, but will return for installation service as needed. UITS cannot make house calls off campus. If you want SAS installed on a personally-owned computer located off campus, you must bring it to UITS for the installation. Contact the UITS Stat/Math Center for details.
