Research in the Speech Perception Laboratory focuses on the perceptual
consequences of phonetic variability in speech. The main topics under
investigation are how listeners adapt to the variability present in the
speech signal, how this learning can best be facilitated, and how
children develop the ability to accurately and effortlessly perceive
highly variable speech signals, including foreign-accented
speech.
Research in the Speech Perception Lab is currently supported by a grant
from the National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication
Disorders (R21 DC010027).
