Q: Who will be there? Can anyone attend?

A: Spring Experience Day is geared towards all applicants and admitted students.  Whether you have applied or are preparing to choose your applications carefully, your choice to attend SPEA's Spring Experience Day is sure to help. As many of our current students will share, it was their visit to IU that really brought clarity to their graduate school choice. Plus, you'll get to enjoy the feel of a fall day on IU's campus - considered to be one of the top five most beautiful campuses in the country.

Q:  How can I get to Bloomington?

A:  If you are flying into the Indianapolis International Airport which is just a mere 50 minutes away from the campus, shuttle service directly to the IUB campus is provided by the Bloomington Shuttle or Star of America Shuttle Services. For driving directions, visit http://admit.indiana.edu/visit/directions.shtml

Q: Where do I stay in Bloomington?

A: Bloomington offers a wide variety of hotels.  SPEA has secured multiple hotels with group discount rates.  For information on these hotels, please click here.

Additionally, we will have a limited number of opportunities to be housed with a current student. We will send out a Preference Form to all RSVPed Experience Day attendees where you can indicate your interest to be housed with a current student. We recommend that you book a hotel for back-up just in case we are unable to accommodate your current student housing request, but we do our very best to place each and every prospective student who does request to stay with us! Contact speainfo@indiana.edu if you have any questions about this process.

Q: When will I receive a schedule of the day's events?

A:  All attendees will receive a final detailed schedule early in the week of Experience Day. The sample schedule on this website should give you an idea of the Experience Day events. You can plan to allocate 8am-5pm for the day.  More information to come soon!

Q: Where will I park?

A: You are welcome to park in the Fee Lane Parking Garage on Fee Lane just off of 10th Street; we'll provide you with a free visitor permit for use upon exiting the garage (please take a parking ticket as you enter-you won't need a parking pass until you exit).  You will see signage indicating "SPEA Parking" in and around the SPEA Building and garage entrance. We encourage you to park in the Fee Lane Garage on the 4th floor for easy access to the sky bridge which leads to the SPEA building.  The campus map is available for directions to SPEA.

SPEA's building address is:

1315 East Tenth Street

Bloomington, IN 47405

Q:  Is there a fee to attend SPEA's Experience Day?

A:  Experience Day is FREE to all attendees who have filled out the reservation form and received a confirmation.

Q:  Do you offer any travel stipends for Experience Day?

A:  While the activities during Experience Day are free, we do not pay for flights, lodging, or "other" incidentals.  We will have limited housing options with current students available, and you can indicate your preference for being housed with a student on our RSVP form.

Q: What do I wear?

A: As you are finalizing your preparations for travel and packing, please know that business casual attire is appropriate for all events and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Q: Can I bring anyone with me?

A: We understand that family, friends and significant others may join you in Bloomington.  However, SPEA Experience Days are individualized visits for prospective students only.  We can offer information on local attractions and landmarks, which may help those that choose to accompany you stay busy while you experience SPEA.  The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Monroe County offers additional, helpful information.
