This site is your one-stop shop for everything having to do with experiential education at SPEA! The Career Development Office assists in supporting students throughout the experiential education process.

The National Society of Experiential Education describes internships as carefully monitored work or service experiences in which students pursue clearly identified educational goals and reflect actively on what they are learning. The purpose is to promote critical thinking, skill development, and personal and professional growth.

All students in SPEA are required to complete an internship as a part of their professional program (select masters students are exempted). Required professional experience for all undergraduate and masters students is what sets SPEA apart from other public affairs programs. You, as students, not only learn from some of the best faculty in public affairs and environmental science, you get to practice what you have learned in the real world!
