- Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan has appointed Israel Herrera (Lecturer in
Spanish) as a Board
Member of the Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs. The Commission works to promote educational, economic and social equity for Hispanics and Latinos residing and studying in the City, while identifying and researching health, education, public safety and cultural competency issues that impact Hispanics and Latinos.
Furthermore, Israel was one of six IU Bloomington faculty to presented with the Student Choice Award for Outstanding Faculty this year.

The Lusophone Diaspora is the theme of a special Lilly Library exhibit to begin January 2012. Rare items from the Charles R. Boxer and Bernardo Mendel collections will be on display in the Lincoln Room and will showcase aspects of the Portuguese presence in Brazil, Africa, India, China and Japan. |
