Laurie has been with the project since its inception in 1979 and feels that she is aging faster than the study participants. She is Regents Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University and teaches in the ASU doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. When she is not at work, Laurie looks forward to visiting Bloomington, where she can sit under a tree, pick blueberries, and run without getting heat stroke.

Clark has also been with the project since its inception and figures that the fact that the time has gone by so quickly must mean that he is having fun. He is Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University and teaches in the ASU doctoral programs in Clinical and Cognitive Psychology. He shares Laurie’s enjoyment of the opportunity to spend the summer in beautiful Bloomington to work on the smoking survey project, while escaping the Arizona summer.

Shelby Cowley is currently a sophomore at Indiana University, pursuing a degree in accounting and finance. She has been a research assistant for the IU Smoking Survey since October 2010. When she’s not in school or at work, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and boyfriend and going to as many IU sporting events as she can. She loves Chicago sports, especially the Bears, so every Sunday (or Monday) that she isn’t working, She usually Bears Down and prays for a W.
Benjamin Horvath is a senior majoring in political science and economics. He intends to graduate in May 2011.
Shelley Mathus has enjoyed working with the IU Smoking Survey since October of 2004 although she has a full-time career in retail. A big fan of mysteries both on the printed page and on television, Shelley finds tracking duties an interesting challenge. Using several different websites, she finds and then connects "clues" in order to locate a participant who has fallen out of touch. In her spare time, Shelley enjoys relaxing with her two cats and watching programs on history, nature, and travel. One of the items on her bucket list is to revisit Europe some day. She is also an avid reader, an Anglophile, a War-bird buff, and enjoys listening to many different types of music. A graduate of Indiana University, Shelley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction. She majored and Spanish and minored in English.
Fatima McKenzie has been a Research Assistant with the IU Smoking Survey since fall of 2010. She is currently a master's student at Indiana University working towards a degree in Health Promotion. Prior to enrolling at IU, she received her B.A. in Psychology and International Studies from Northwestern University. Upon graduating from IU, she hopes to continue in research and earn a PhD. In her spare time, Fatima can be found shopping; spending time with friends, watching reality T.V., and hoping people return their surveys.
Alyssa Moring has been a Research Assistant with the Smoking Survey since 2010. She is currently in her junior year at Indiana University pursuing a degree in English with the hopes of going to graduate school. When she is not in class or working, Alyssa enjoys being with friends and family, thinking about the TV show she wants to write with a friend, reading, shopping, IU basketball, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and finding inspiration in everything.
Anna Moseley joined the IUSS research team in 2010. She hopes to get 70% of the surveys returned this year so that none of our work will have been in vain!
Josh Richardt has been with the survey for over a year. Sadly, he will be leaving after this semester to begin a master’s program in Educational Counseling at the University of Dayton. When he's not tracking participants Josh loves to travel with his wife, try new recipes and catch up on his never-ending book list.
Diana Schmalzried has worked at the Smoking Survey since the summer of 2010. She likes that the study has been going on for such a long time and is grateful for all of the people who continue to participate! When she has time, she also loves to play ultimate Frisbee, which has been her main hobby since college.
Allison Vollmer is a research assistant with the IU smoking survey. She is a sophomore at Indiana University, majoring in Psychology with hopes of going to graduate school to pursue clinical psychology/psychotherapy. When not at IU, she can be found performing comedy. Besides telling jokes, Allison loves video games, Colts football, shopping, and cooking and baking. She tries to keep a good sense of humor about everything and thinks it is cool that we have participants in the survey all over the world.
