Unicorn 2002 - What You Need to Know
In order to prepare for the upgrade, you'll need to be aware of the following items:
- Unicorn will be down from 6:00 p.m. (Bloomington time) on
Friday, January 3, 2003 until 8:00 a.m. (Bloomington time) on Monday,
January 6, 2003. (See the upgrade
schedule for complete details.) To ensure a smooth shutdown,
all WorkFlows sessions should be closed before 6:00 p.m. on
Friday.
- No reports will run the weekend of January 4-5. Reports
will be re-scheduled as appropriate (most will catch up when they run
again the next time). There will be some extra reports running on
Monday, January 6th in order to catch up, so some reports may be later
than usual on Monday.
- The WorkFlows 2002 client will automatically be
downloaded the first time you log in to Unicorn (unlike in the
past when you had to run the "Update" wizard). The new client will
automatically install when you launch WorkFlows again. As in the
past, an extra icon may be created on the desktop--it should be
ignored and you should continue to use the existing icon, and the
extra one should be automatically removed.
- Special Note: WorkFlows 2002 will run on Windows NT,
Windows 2000, and Windows XP. If any site is still using Windows 98
or is using a Mac, computer support for that site should email Spencer
Anspach (sanspach) immediately.
- Custom toolbars which are maintained centrally (CUSTACQ,
CUSTSER, CUSTILL, READONLY, etc.) will be upgraded. Individual
toolbars stored on workstations will need to be re-configured to work
with Unicorn 2002. Details are
available although the toolbars can't be modified until after the
production upgrade, so work can't be done in advance without access to
es07.
