Joining the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of
Education for the second summer session 1995, Barbara Ford brought
with her a broad range of interests and expertise. After teaching
reading, math, ESL, and serving as a teacher trainer for over fifteen
years in southern California public elementary schools and
universities, in 1993 Dr. Ford earned her Ed.D. at the University of
Southern California. At USC she specialized in Educational Policy and
Planning and Educational Leadership, with a supplement in Curriculum
and Instruction. Dr. Ford has served as a lecturer in the School of
Education and Human Development at California State University in
Fresno since 1989.
While in Bloomington Dr. Ford caught up on reading, collaborated with I.U. faculty in her department in leading a summer course, and presented a lecture on English Language Development entitled "Using the Thematic Unit in a Bilingual Education Course." She also began work on an education issue of the journal Wazo Weusi which she will be guest editing in the fall. Dr. Ford especially enjoyed the opportunity to share and collaborate with the other visiting fellows here this summer and says the program "has been a productive, interesting, and valuable experience." |
