Getting here
By Air
The nearest airport is in Indianapolis (IND), and serves most airlines. From the airport, there are several rental car companies, including Enterprise, Budget, Hertz, Avis, Alamo, Dollar, National, and Thrifty.
There is also a shuttle service that runs regularly to Bloomington, and costs $25 one-way. The shuttle can drop you off at the IMU or several hotels.
By Train
There is an Amtrak station in Indianapolis. It is combined with a Greyhound bus station, but the bus doesn’t come to Bloomington... Unless you have someone picking you up, the train is not the best option.
By Car

Student researchers who travel to come to our research day will be housed with students hosts from the IUB Department of Geological Sciences on a first come first served basis. If you will be attending our conference, please contact Laura Podratz to arrange housing.
If housing with student hosts is full, or if you are an industry representative, there are several convenient hotels and B&B’s listed at the bottom of the page.
Travel Grants
Do you want to come present your research, but can’t afford to get here? We will give merit based travel grants to students for out-of-state travel. To apply for a travel grant, please send your registration, as well as a short (200 words or fewer) written request detailing your need to Laura Podratz.

The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) Hotel is conveniently located on the IU campus, in the heart of the old campus. The hotel is a five minute walk from the Geology building, and has its own parking lot.
