Attending Another IU Campus

IU Bloomington degree-seeking students may be approved to receive aid while enrolled in courses at another IU campus as part of the inter-campus consortium process. Eligible campuses include: IUPUI, IUPUI- Columbus, IU Northwest, IU South Bend, IU Kokomo, IU East, and IU Southeast.

To be considered for a Summer consortium agreement students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Eligibility requirements to receive financial aid, refer to:
    http://www.indiana.edu/~sfa/receiving/eligibility.html
  2. Courses taken at the other campus must be required for degree.
  3. Must have completed at least one term at IUB.
  4. Applications must be submitted no later than 4 weeks after the start of the term.

To be considered for a Academic Year consortium agreement students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Eligibility requirements to receive financial aid, refer to: http://www.indiana.edu/~sfa/receiving/eligibility.html
  2. Academic purpose for attending another IU campus, for example;
    • Class not offered at IUB
    • Program requires attendance at another campus
  3. Courses taken at the other campus must be required for degree.
  4. No previous semester on a consortium agreement, unless specific to program of study.
  5. Must have completed at least one full academic year at IUB.
  6. Applications must be submitted no later than 4 weeks after the start of the semester.

Students may attend the other campus exclusively for the term, or may split their enrollment between IU Bloomington and the other campus. However, the minimum total enrollment in order to be considered for IU Bloomington financial aid is 6 credit hours for undergraduate students, and 4 credit hours for graduate students.

If our office determines that you meet the eligibility requirements for a financial aid consortium, we will contact your host institution to collect Cost of Attendance and enrollment information.

Attending an overseas study program through another university

The Office of Overseas Study will determine if a student enrolled in a non-IU overseas study program may be eligible to receive their IU Bloomington financial aid. If a student meets the eligibility requirements to receive aid, the Office of Overseas Study will enroll the student in OVST Y496. Students enrolled in Y496 must complete a consortium agreement through the Office of Overseas Study in order to receive financial aid; enrollment in OVST Y496 alone does not render a student aid-eligible.

Students approved for an overseas study consortium will be eligible for much of the same aid they would receive if enrolled normally on campus; however, since they are not paying tuition/fees to IU Bloomington, they will not be eligible for fee remissions such as dependent child fee courtesy, or state grants such as O’Bannon, 21st Century, or CVO (Child of Certain Veterans and Public Safety Officers Supplemental Grant program).

Students considering enrolling in a non-IU overseas study program should contact the Office of Overseas Study for further information.
