San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve Research
Cannon 2
Cannon one is a museum quality
replica cement cannon placed on the San
Pedro in March 1988 to enhance the site as
an underwater museum. This cannon not only
helps to enhance the site as an underwater
museum, but also serves as a hard surface
for which sea creatures, such as corals,
can attach themselves. Recent rotation of
the cannon, due to possible storm action,
caused damage to living corals. These
corals were documented during an IU survey
conducted in 1995. The bleached spots are
the corals that have been damaged.
