What is Kung Fu San Soo?

-Kung Fu San Soo is the Chinese art of self-defense which started in theQwan Yin Monastery and decended down to Jimmy H. Woo (Chin Siu Dek), the Father of American San Soo.

Do I have to be experienced in martial arts to join the club?

-No, any level of experience is welcome.

 

What kind of training will I obtain in San Soo?

-The San Soo practitioner trains in five levels of combat: Tsoi (punching and kicking), Li (leverages), Hoi (pressure points), Fut (psychology), and Hung (power and strength). It is a well-rounded art with a primary focus in being able to defend one's self in a physical conflict.

 

What fees are associated with the San Soo Kung Fu Club?

-A $35.00 fee each semester will help pay for new equiptment and for your belts as you progress as a San Soo fighter.

 

How do you progress in belts in San Soo Kung Fu?

"An accomplished Practitioner of Kung Fu San Soo does not depend on the color of belt he wears for Protection. His accomplishments are within himself; the color of his belt will not change his ability to use his body and mind. But whatever rank You hold, be Proud of it. Self-improvement in the Art of San Soo. not belt advancement, should be the students' main goal. Remember that the strong tree that stops growing withers and dies.

The following information is given to enlighten you as to how long You must train and what You must know to advance in this studio:

You enroll as a white belt.

From the time You enroll it takes the average Person who continues training and progressing a MINIMUM of 3 months to qualify for yellow belt.

From Yellow belt to green belt takes the average student another 3 months MINIMUM time, or 6 - 8 months total.

From green belt to brown belt requires 12 months MINIMUM time for the average student who keeps up with techniques and forms, or a total of 1.5 Years.

Black belt can be achieved after a minimum of 12 months of brown belt (2.5 - 3 years overall), Providing the student Passes his various requirements."
