Outstanding Teaching

Candy Gunther BrownProfessor Candy Gunther Brown is the 2010 recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Trustees Teaching Award for Excellence. Professor Brown is a popular and successful teacher at every level of our curriculum. In her undergraduate courses like "Religion and American Culture" (R160) and "Evangelicals in America," she makes creative use of technology, so that students gain exposure to visual and aural evidence for American religious life as well as written texts. In these and in her graduate seminars Professor Brown gives her students close guidance in research and writing. She regularly invites students to her home, where they get to enjoy her famously wonderful desserts. For providing her students both intellectual and physical nourishment that is healthy and fun, Candy Gunther Brown is a worthy recipient of the Trustees Teaching Award.
