About the Professional Service Delivery Council
The Professional Service Delivery Council (PSDC) represents the School of HPER's professional staff and non-tenure track faculty members whose primary job responsibilities involve service delivery. It began with the work of a Task Force (read about the Council's history). The Council's constitution (ratified January, 2004) defines professional service as "providing experiences, opportunities and services outside the traditional classroom for Indiana University students, faculty, and staff, and for citizens of the State of Indiana and beyond."
The mission of the Council is to facilitate the inclusion of service delivery professionals in the School's mission and goals through active involvement in the planning, policies, procedures and resource management of the School. The Council provides opportunities for expanding communication and partnerships of service delivery professionals school-wide. The Council also provides avenues for professional development and recognition of the contributions made by our service delivery professionals to our School, campus, community, and country.
Among the accomplishments of the Council:
- Established the Outstanding Professional Award
- Instituted the Professional Service Assistance Fund for Professional Service Development Grants
- Established Service Delivery Council Networking and Training Funds
- Created policies and guidelines for merit and bonuses
- Established formal recognition for outstanding service among professional staff
- Recommended a process for year-end performance reviews
- Launched a webpage for the PSDC
- Initiated PSDC workshops and retreats
- Approval of a Development Fund Application and Award Process
- Developed of a PSDC Historic Timeline document
- Initiated a PSDC Strategic Planning Process
- Drafted a PSDC Strategic Plan
- Developed PSDC sites on the School Information Portal and OnCourse
- Enhanced avenues of communication regarding contributions of PSDC members
