Bigtooth Aspen Scientific Name: Populus grandidentata Description: A tree similar in character to the foregoing species, commonly reaching a height of 30-40' and sometimes 80', with a trunk diameter of over 20". The bark resembles that of the American Aspen but is commonly a trifle more buffish in tone; the younger twigs tan brown, the older greenish gray. Habitat: Common on the borders of streams and on hillsides in rich or poor soil. Range: Quebec west to Iowa, south to Pennsylvania and west to Tennessee and Illinois.
