Eastern Cottonwood, Necklace Poplar Scientific Name: Populus deltoides Description: One of the largest of the poplars, 70-90' and sometimes 160' high, with a trunk diameter of 7'. Bark strongly seamed with conspicuously confluent ridges, light or dark brown when old, gray green when young, and nearly smooth; the stem straight, the branches strongly ascending, the twigs ocher yellow.
