Hackberry, Sugarberry Scientific Name: Celtis occidentalis Description: A tree greatly varying in size, 20-70' and occasionally in advantageous situations 130' high, with a trunk diameter of 4'. Bearing a superficial resemblance to the Elms. Bark warm light brown, broken into confluent, discontinuous, irregular, shallow ridges, the large limbs, widely divergent, the branches nearly horizontal.
