Eastern Redbud, Judas Tree Scientific Name: Crecis canadensis Description: A small, slender, southern tree 15-25' and in the South occasionally 50' high, with a trunk diameter of about 10", the irregular branches forming a broad, unbalanced figure. Bark deep brown, irregularly broken, in small, thin scales; the twigs slender, and ruddy brown. Habitat: Found along the borders of streams on gravelly banks, or on rich bottom-lands. Range: From New Jersey west through southern Ontario to southern Michigan, south to Tampa Bay, Florida and along the Tennessee River. West to Texas.
