Alternate Dogwood Scientific Name: Cornus alternifolia Description: A shrub or sometimes a tree 6-25' high, with a trunk occasionally 9" thick, the umber brown bark roughly scored. The shrub forms with slender stems and smooth olive green branches, often streaked with white. Habitat: In damp thickets or copses.
