Flowering Dogwood Scientific Name: Cornus florida Description: A very beautiful, picturesque though common shrub or small tree 12-20 or sometimes 40' high, with a trunk diameter of about 14". Bark sepia brown, round-checked or nearly square-checked, not perpendicularly scored. Conspicuous large, white, four-bracted flowers, cream white or magenta pink-tinged. The ovoid fruit deep scarlet.
