River Birch, Red Birch Scientific Name: Betula nigra Description: The Red Birch is a southern species, a graceful, medium-sized tree, 30-50' and occasionally 80' high, with a trunk 3' thick, commonly, but not invariably, divided into strong ascending limbs at a point 6-8' above the ground.
