Hygrophorus pratensis

Common Name: Meadow wax cap
Description: Cap 3-8cm across, convex then flattened with a broad umbo, becoming distorted and often cracking with age; salmon orange to tawny buff; dry and smooth with minute fibers.
Habitat: singly, scattered, or gregarious in open and grassy areas and in woods. Common. Found widely distributed in North America.
Edible: Excellent.
