Hygrophorus conicus

Common Name: None.
Description: Cap 2-9cm across, conical or sometimes convex with a conical umbo and lobed margin; scarlet-orange to red, paler toward margin, often with olive tints, gray to black in age, bruising black when damaged; tacky when moist, smooth when dry, sometimes streaked with small fibers.
Habitat: single to gregarious in coniferous woods. Common. Found widely distributed in North America.
Edible: suspect - avoid, possibly poisonous.
