Common Name: Red-cracked Bolete
Description: Cap 3-8 cm across, brown, soon cracking to reveal reddish flesh in cracks; dry, velvety. Stem 40-80 by 10-15mm high and wide.
Habitat: with deciduous trees, especially oak. Common, but rarer in the West. Found widely distributed throughout North America.
Edible: Yes.
