Description: Cylindrical stems, brown and hairy with coasely-toothed leaves and numerous small, yellow flowers
Habitat: Roadsides, wasteground, fields, and woods
Range: Throughout the United States and southern Canada, Europe, western Asia, and north Africa
Comments: Used historically as a medicinal plant in Europe. Currently used as an astringent to stop bleeding.
