B 366 Spring 2003 -- First Exam

I. Discussing your paper

If you have any questions or if you are concerned about your grade and wish to do better on the next essay, please come in and discuss your essay with the graders or with me. We strongly urge you to take advantage of this opportunity because sometimes small errors in approaching this kind of essay can undercut a great deal of the effort you put into them. A slight course correction now might greatly improve your grades on the remainder of the essays in this course and help you perfect the writing and critical thinking skills that you will need in the future.

III. Criteria for Grading

In a course such as this it is impossible to establish precise criteria for grades. There will always be many different ways to write an "A" paper, and we have tried to remain alert to unique and creative ways to answer these questions. Nonetheless, in order to assure as much consistency as possible in grading and to give you clear feedback, we formulated general guidelines for grading the papers.
