Steven R. & Lisa A. Block Internship Award
This award is intended to benefit undergraduate students fulfilling the requirements for a certificate in the Political and Civic Engagement (PACE) Program as they pursue their internship.
Students who wish to apply for the Block Internship award should:
1) consult with the PACE internship director and receive approval for their mentored internship experience, and
2) send an email to pace indiana.edu containing an essay of LESS THAN 500 words answering the question: “How would this award help your professional and academic development in the PACE certificate and overall?” The deadline for us to receive your essay is April 1.
The awards committee will review the essay submissions as well as the transcripts of students involved.
Recipients will be determined by the PACE awards committee before April 26 for the summer term, and if any awards remain, on a rolling basis for the fall term. Students will be notified by the end of April.
PACE Internship Scholarships
Deadlines to submit requests for funding: decisions are made on a rolling basis until 6 weeks before each semester or entire summer session begins to receive funds for that period. July 10 for fall, Dec. 1 for spring, April 1 for summer.
Prerequisite: Acceptance to the PACE program and completed approval process with internship director.
Procedure: PACE Committee reviews requests to determine what amounts (up to $500) will be awarded to which students.
WHO: PACE students who are planning to complete the internship requirement* in the upcoming term
*Prerequisite is acceptance to the PACE program and completing the internship approval process with the internship director. See the information at Internship page.
WHAT: PACE internship funding of up to $500 [$500 for summer, $250 for semester]
WHEN: Deadline to send request is BEFORE the semester or summer session begins: July 10 for the fall semester interns; Dec. 1 for spring semester interns; April 1 for summer interns.
HOW: Send an email containing your request to pace indiana.edu before the deadline. Your request should detail where you will be doing the internship, and why you need additional funding.
The PACE faculty and staff will review these requests and determine how many scholarships will be given for the semester or summer and how much will be awarded, up to $500 for each scholarship. The money will be paid through the Bursar’s office, so any outstanding tuition or fees will be deducted from the amount.
PACE Internship Funding guidelines
Summer interns may receive up to $500. Stipends from internship site would be in addition to this amount.
Fall or spring semester interns may receive up to $250. Stipends from internship site would be considered as part of this total, unless other circumstances are present. Special circumstances such as being off campus for the semester and incurring additional expenses will be considered, in which case the PACE funding may be given in addition to the internship stipend.
