Dr. Eric Mokube Dr. Eric Mokube became the director of Research and the Coordinator for Savant at the Office for Women’s Affairs in April 2010. Before coming to Indiana University, he was the research associate for a national nonprofit organization where he collaborated with superintendents and principals across the nation and researched information on district-wide leadership team programs for building capacity among teachers and administrators as well as closing achievement gaps among students. Dr. Mokube received his Ph.D. in International Affairs and Development at Clark Atlanta University with specializations in International Organizations and Sub-Saharan Africa’s political economy. Dr. Mokube approaches women’s issues with a highly intersectional lens, viewing gender as inextricably connected to other key cultural markers such as race, class, and sexuality. As the director of research, his focus will be on identifying and highlighting institutional barriers for women at IUB; cultivating a university culture of diversity, gender equity, and inclusion; providing educational reports and information on gender issues; and developing partnerships with community organizations focused on women issue. As the coordinator for Savants, his focus will be on revamping and expanding OWA’s university and community wide outreach of programs addressing gender inequity, building healthy relationships, and stopping sexual violence on campus. Some of his specific areas of interest include issues for women of color, the role of women in development (especially in developing countries) and their place in the new normal. |
