Article I. Name of Organization |
The organization shall be named One Indiana University
(ONE IU).

Article II. Purpose |
ONE IU is a student organization which seeks to foster racial
understanding via interaction and communication across racial
lines. The primary philosophy of ONE IU is that human beings
despite the various shades of skin tone, are essentially more
alike then different. In order to eliminate the fears, stereotypes,
and other pathologies born of a lack of knowledge and exposure,
ONE IU will seek to provide opportunities for individuals from
diverse racial groups and backgrounds to meet and communicate
openly and honestly, in a safe environment where all are in pursuit
of truth and understanding regarding the notion of race and its
impact on world culture.

Article III. Membership |
Any one committed to the purpose of the organization as explicated
in Article II is entitled to become a member of ONE IU. ONE IU
seeks diversity with regards to age, ability, gender, race, creed,
and sexual orientation.
The majority of active members must be persons officially
affiliated with the university, students, staff, and faculty.

Article IV. Officers and Elections |
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Parliamentarian
Officers shall be elected by the majority vote of all active
members attending the steering committee meeting of April.

Article V. The Executive Committee |
The following positions shall constitute the executive committee.
Graduate Advisor (Indiana University Student Foundation)
Graduate Advisor (Co-Founder's Designee)
Student Assistant (Staff Adviser's Designee)
Student Assistant (faculty Adviser's Designee)
Staff Adviser (Director, IUSF, or Designee)
faculty Adviser (Co-Founder or Co-Founder's Designee)
President (ONE IU)

Article VI. The Steering Committee |
The following organizations and individuals shall constitute
the Steering Committee.
The Executive Committee
Officers of ONE IU
The American Indiana Student's Association
The Asian American Student's Association
The Black Student Union
The Black Graduate Student's Organization
Latinos Unidos
Indiana University Student's Association (IUSA)
Indiana University Student Foundation (IUSF)
The Panhellenic Council
The Pan-Hellenic Inter-Fraternal Council
The purpose of the steering committee is to provide general
leadership for the organization. Steering committee members are
expected to chair and/or serve on committees and serve as ambassadors
of the organization.

Article VII. Meetings |
Steering committee meetings will be held monthly. The
audience for steering committee meetings are the executive committee
and the student organization listed under article V.
Mass meetings will be held monthly. The audience for mass
meetings includes the general public, the general membership,
non-members, and steering committee members.
Any steering committee member may convene a meeting provided
that there is a ten day notice. Decisions which are made are
binding provided that the meeting has a quorum.

Article VIII. Amendment Process |
The Constitution can be amended by a two-thirds vote of those
members present at the April meeting of the steering committee.
A quorum of active members must be present.
Any proposed constitutional change should be announced at
the March mass meeting as well as the March steering committee
meeting.
