We started the column with a picture of our own Mitch Rice, the
computer guru who keeps things running smoothly for the IU Home
Pages and the IU Office of Publications on the seventh floor
of the Poplars on the Bloomington campus.
Rice is a MacIntosh specialist and provides technical support for
the hardware and software used by graphic artists and writers each
day. Mitch began work at IU in January 2001 and when not at work,
spends time researching, playing and performing old-time music.
Those who attend Bloomington’s Farmers’ Market on Saturdays may
have heard him from time to time playing his banjo.

He is pictured here at the Poplars, 400 E. 7th St. A resident of
Solsberry, Whaley also tends to 40 acres of land and works part
time as a truck driver hauling cattle. He takes pride in his daughter,
