| Among the nearly endless opportunities for campus involvement at IU Bloomington is being part of a group that dates back to 1921. The Board of Aeons was founded by IU President William Lowe Bryan as a 12-member, confidential sounding board of undergraduates on campus issues for the IU Bloom-ington chancellor.
This past summer, alumni of the Board of Aeons were invited by the IU Alumni Association to join one of its newest affiliate groups, the Society of Aeons.
IUB Chancellor Sharon Brehm believes both the alumni Aeons and IU will benefit from the new affiliation, with alumni having the opportunity to reconnect with the university and her current board members having access to role models during an important developmental period of their lives.
“Alumni can help the students to see beyond their immediate concerns on campus to the ways in which these concerns connect with the state, the nation and the world, which results in student projects that are more visionary and powerful,” said Brehm. “Society members will have the satisfaction of having made a major contribution to the university by strengthening both the Aeons tradition and the involvement of this group of alumni in the activities and programs of the Bloomington campus.”
