| The Office of Multicultural Affairs welcomed community members of all ages to the Native American Heritage Festival on April 17, featuring the Yankton Sioux group called The Land of the Singing Coyote.
Eagle bussel dancers, grass dancers and jingle dress dancers performed traditional powwow dances while a storyteller recited stories about the performance. Danny Necklace, a traditional cedar flutist, performed along with Parnell Necklace, who hand-crafted the powwow drums he played. The performance was in Native American language, and all dancers were dressed in Native American regalia.
The event was sponsored in part by the Wayne County Foundation, Inc.
