| Support Staff Awards
IU Bloomington’s Staff Merit Award winners have been selected and will be honored at a reception hosted by IUB Chancellor Sharon Brehm Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 3:30 p.m. in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. Colleagues are invited to attend.

Estep
Marilyn Estep, administrative secretary in the Department of Linguistics, has worked at IU for 18 years, the last five in her present position. Estep was cited for taking on added responsibilities while a colleague was recuperating from surgery for several months, for her reliability, versatility and personal kindness.

Felton
Stacy Felton, administrative secretary in the Department of Chemistry, started her career at IU in 1983 and has been in her current position for 15 years. Colleagues describe her as a self-starter, a quick learner and, as she is also involved with assisting visiting speakers, prospective graduate students and faculty candidates while they are on campus, often the “first impression” that visitors have of the university.
Professional Staff Awards

Frashour
Samuel Frashour, head of physical facilities and field services for the Geological Survey, has worked at IU for 18 years, doing work he truly loves—collecting field samples, sometimes under difficult conditions, preparing, testing and archiving the data. His geological passion is caving, and he has mapped numerous underground wonders, including two that are “show caves” for the public: one in Indiana, one in Barbados. In addition to educating students and the public about caves, he’s also risked his own safety in cave rescue missions.

Madison
Jeanne Madison, assistant director for lifelong learning and Mini University at the Bloomington Division of Continuing Studies, has worked at IU for 27 years. Among her duties is coordinating IUB’s award-winning Mini University, which entails programming 100 IU faculty members and coordinating their presentations with cultural and recreational activities for 400-plus participants for a week each summer.
Service Staff Awards

Melton
Wanda Melton, a custodian for Building Services, has served
at the Musical Arts Center for a quarter of a century. She was cited
for her great organizational skills, and her initiative to implement
“team cleaning” in the music area, which has made the job more efficient.

Jacobs
Trudy Jacobs, a custodian for Building Services, has worked
for IU for 23 years, and according to the Bloomington chancellor
whose residence Jacobs now cares for, “she takes care of the people
and the places at IU, making it an inviting place.” Jacobs also
works as support staff at athletic events and is a union steward..
