Brantlinger, Gill receive COAS honors

Brantlinger

Gill

IU Bloomington’s Patrick Brantlinger is the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Faculty Award from the College of Arts and Sciences (COAS). He was honored, along with Distinguished Alumni Award winner Jack Gill, at the COAS annual recognition banquet Nov. 9.

Brantlinger is a professor of English and a noted scholar in 19th-century British literature and culture. The Distinguished Faculty Award recognized Brantlinger’s outstanding contributions in the three primary areas of faculty work: research, teaching and service. He has been a member of the IU faculty since 1968, and was director of the Victorian Studies Program and editor of the academic journal Victorian Studies from 1980-90. He is author or editor of more than 10 books and several dozen scholarly articles.
