| Students at the IU School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER), as well as dancers from the Bloomington community, had the opportunity to take part in a master’s class with members of Pilobolus, the dance ensemble that originated at Dartmouth College in 1971. The company has developed into a major force in American dance over the course of three decades, performing to full houses at London's Sadler's Wells, Rome's Teatro Olimpico and Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens. The master’s class preceded a performance at the IU Auditorium in Bloomington Nov. 13 and was sponsored by the auditorium and the Bloomington Area Arts Council.
According to Doug Booher, director of the auditorium, the master’s class was
arranged to give community members a learning opportunity and to
enhance the auditorium’s interaction with local artists.

received many awards for its performances, including the Scotsman
Award of the Edinburgh Festival, the Berlin Critic's Prize and the
New England Theatre Conference Prize.

on dance continues at the IU Auditorium next week (Tuesday, Nov.
19, and Wednesday, Nov. 20) when Saturday Night Fever boogies
to the Bloomington campus.
